SULTRY, STEAMY, EXOTIC & ARTFULLY PROVOCATIVE WHITE LINEN NIGHT in the HEIGHTS

Houston Heights…There is definitely something exotic about hot southern nights. They feel, sound and even look different. Bodies glisten, senses heighten and pulses quicken. Sultry summer nights reach the Heights on August 5th beginning at 6pm with art lovers taking to the streets for the artfully provocative White Linen Night in the Heights.

Art lovers are encouraged to slip into their favorite cool white linen attire and stroll the outdoor art celebration of galleries and shops featuring original artwork, live entertainment, signature drinks and Texas hospitality. The event winds through the streets of the Heights including White Oak, Heights Blvd., Studewood, Yale, 11th, 19th, Ashland and Waugh. Pedi-cab stations are located at galleries on 19th and 11th streets and free ‘trolleys’ will run throughout the evening. (Think air-conditioned luxury limo 25 passenger vans). White Linen banners will identify the participating retailers and galleries offering entertainment and artist receptions.

This New Orleans tradition combines vieux and view with the Heights quickly becoming the hottest art scene in Houston. According to event planners, White Linen Night is simply an opportunity to revel in a celebration of art, culture and community. Flowing white canopies, tarot readers, complimentary signature beverages, original artwork, incredible retail shops, pedi-cabs and trolleys will have a backdrop of live entertainment throughout the evening. Sponsors of the event are underwriting the hospitality with complimentary festive beverages, free shuttles and even providing a free cab ride home from Lonestar Cab for those who decide to come early and stay late.

Boasting the largest population of professional artists in Texas, the Heights galleries and retailers are providing trolley stops at Spanish Flowers Mexican Restaurant; Texas Collaborative – Gallery; Hickory Hollow Restaurant; Bliss on 19th; Wind Water Gallery; Yale Street Arts Market; Redbud Gallery; The Glass Wall Restaurant; Oolala and Buchanan's Native Plants. Each trolley stop will host a special Meet the Artist reception in addition to the exhibits and entertainment throughout the event.

Galleries featured during White Linen Night include M2 Gallery; Redbud Gallery; Texas Collaborative; G Gallery; Square Moon Gallery; Gallery 19; Artful Corner, Valeries Gallarie and the Inner Art Corridor. White Linen Night restaurants currently include Spanish Flowers Mexican Restaurant; Shade; The Glass Wall; Carter & Cooley Deli; Bamboo House; Hickory Hollow Restaurant; Houston Tamales Factory and Berryhill Baja Grill.

Free parking is available on city streets and at Wind Water Gallery; Baptist Temple Church; St Andrews Presbyterian Church and Hickory Hollow Restaurant. Event brochures and maps will be distributed on the trolleys and at participating galleries, restaurants and retailers.
