Mitch Notes Archive, October 13, 2006"Our Little Gallery" Howdy! Recently, while showing a visitor around our house, I realized from their comments how much artwork we have. Not just our own, but what we've purchased or received as gifts from artists. A lot of what we have has come from Yale Street Arts Market, but also on occasion as birthday presents and thank you gifts for something. The thank you gifts of art are my favorite because those are always unexpected and like found treasures! Last week I started taking photos of all the work and have put them online for everyone to see! The portrait of Carolyn and myself was done by Bonnie Blue "The Rock Lady." You may have seen her crazy "Women That Rock" van at our market. Bonnie does instant caricatures right out of the back of her van/studio at festivals and events. This one is a thank you gift after her work was personally aired on Fox 26 Morning News after a referral for an awards event. Bonnie was hired to paint the morning newscast and producer on her rocks as gifts, then the anchors of the morning news showed off their "rocks" to the world the next day! That was such a hoot! Cheers! -Mitch Mitch writes about his travels throughout the vast neighborhood known as the Houston Heights...and pretty much whatever else he feels like! |
