Mitch Cohen![]() You lookin at me? "I've considered myself an artist since I was very young. I didn't start professionally until I was about 22 when I took a "summer" job painting billboards. I learned a lot painting those signs. The "tricks of the trade" turned quite useful in the decorative painting business that Carolyn my wife and I started in 1993. After 10 years of that, we realized we needed more than just a "faux" lifestyle and got involved with Heights 1st Saturday to show our art. That got us thinking (always trouble!) and we started the Yale Street Arts Market. Throughout all the activities we did with the artists we had been meeting, we constantly got requests for artists. So I started two email lists. On one we sent out news about the artists openings and related events called "In The Loop!" and the other simply called "Call To Artists" with Artists At Large, our company name. The lists kept growing! Happens.
Websites were made, we ended up on everyone's mailing list, and now...this: So we'll see what happens here. I love it and am excited to see where it goes. I'm always floored by what people tell me about us and our impact on the artists in Houston. Who really pays attention to what they do and how that effects other people? I'm not saying we are totally oblivious, just that it still surprises me. Our only goal was to show our art, to do this, then do that...amazing what happens when you're just living! I suspect that I may have to edit out this last paragraph...a complete stranger reading this might think I'm nuts. Visit our decorative painting pages here. Here are some favorites that I've painted.
