Melba Lee

After Hours: a collection of silhouettes: exciting, colorful and full of expression and emotions all made from torn handmade paper.

A gift is an instrument of and from God that brings about faith and joy in others. Lee says that according to scripture (Romans 12:6), God has given each of us a gift. Lee, with no formal training, says that her creative expressions are a gift from God.

After Hours, the name that Lee has given to the collection of artwork has been featured in the Houston Chronicle, on the Missouri City Cable TV channel and the Fox News. The work has been on display in the Fort Bend County Library in Missouri City and the Houston Public Library at the Smith Branch. She has participated in Yale Street Arts Market, The SHAPE Community Center’s Kwanzaa festival and other local festivals and vendor markets. In 2005, Lee’s artwork received third place recognition in the Southwest Artisan’s Society Art Contest.
