Our total setup was approximately $530, including equipment, application, etc;
Our discount rate is 1.69% per month, and 25 cents per transaction fee.
It’s a completely wireless system. It's pretty easy to use and we prefer the instant
approval- which means no wondering if the imprinted card will work when you get home to
a wired system.
It's a small cell phone with card swipe, and an infrared connection to the printer.
Contact us through Mitch if you want more info.
If you're doing very few cards per month, then keep to something else, but if you're expecting
more sales volume, this might be your system of choice.

- I'd refer everyone to Costco. I did all the research a couple of years ago,
and they had lower rates, in addition to the credibility factor.
They go through another service provider under the Costco umbrella. As a
customer, I've found them very cooperative, reliable and the training was great.
I just have a "knuckle-buster" type operation (the wireless stuff is
available, but expensive) which means I come home and input the card numbers
after the events. The charge is $25 / month plus 1-2% of the invoice.
There are other deals based on volume.

- We have using a service called Pro Pay for about a 1 1/2 years,
all transactions are handled over the internet, there is no need for
processing equipment, no long term contract, and no monthly minimums.
It is an all manual operation on our part and is a good service for someone
who is just starting or does not handle a large volume of credit cards.
Fees vary and there are different levels of programs, all can be viewed at:
http://www.propay.com
They have a good tutorial to explain the program at the website.
If anyone wants to talk to us about our experience with this service, email us

- I used to use one....I would recommend that people compare services
carefully -- check the monthly service charge, the percent of sales they
take, how long it takes for sales to be deposited in your account, whether
they have a minimum sales volume, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, what their
contract/termination policy is. Some companies charge a huge fee if you end
the service before a specified time. And some that *say* no cancellation fee
have little terms and conditions that let them weasel out of it.
Make sure you get anything they tell you in writing, and print out anything
on their website that might protect you, because they may change their web
site at any time.
I used to use Thompson, and was entirely satisfied with their service UNTIL
I wanted to close the account. Then they tried to weasel out of their "no
cancellation fee" policy. I had to go through a lot of rigmarole (contacting
better business bureau, etc.) to make them back off. It may have been just
the obnoxious individual I dealt with, though (his name was Joe).
For what it's worth.... ;-) Rikki
- Electronic Payment Systems (local) is good. John
- Wells Fargo or your bank too.
- I am using Advanta which is part of First Data; $100.00 start up fee and
3.66% discount rate with no monthly minimum. The money is in my checking
account within 72 hours of my calling it in.
